| The purpose of the video and handbook is to show and explain how to make visits to any nursing home more enjoyable for both you and the one you are visiting. |
| Several years ago, I found it
necessary to place my father and mother in a nursing home. I spent the next
5 years visiting them 3 to 5 times a week, learning how to visit and care
for them. Yes, I said "learning." I found that very few people had any experience
at this type of "care giving." I would take notes on the things
that I observed, both positive and negative, from my actions and from those
of other visitors. At that time, I didn't know why I was making these notes
until one evening while sitting by my mother's bed I got the idea that this
information should somehow be shared. Since I had a background in video
production and writing, I decided to put my observations into a video that could
be used to help other people who visit nursing homes. The Author |
